How to Backup and Restore LINE Chat History on Android

LINE has become one of the most popular VoIP and messaging app serving more than 200 million users worldwide. You need to install the app which is free, and you are good to go as long as you have an Internet connection, which can be through 3G or 4G data plans, or Wi-Fi.

How to Backup Your LINE Backup Chat History

You can back up your chats by selecting Backup Chat History from each chat room.

Follow the steps below to back up your chat history.

  1. From the Chats tab, select the conversation that you want to backup.
  2. In the conversation, tap the V icon at the top-right of the screen.
  3. Tap Chat Settings.
  4. Tap Backup Chat History.

  • If you select Backup as a Text File, things such as stickers, photos, videos, and voice messages will not be saved and cannot be restored.
  • If you select Backup All, you will be able to restore things such as your chat history and stickers for each chat room you selected this option for.

Repeat the process for every other personal chat you want to backup.

Your Chat history will be backed up to “LINE_backup” folder on your device.

How to Restore Your LINE Backup Chat History

When changing devices, you will need to copy the backup files to /sdcard/LINE_Backup/ folder on your new device.

Follow the steps below to restore your Line backup chat.

  1. Select the conversation you want to restore.
  2. In the conversation, tap the V icon at the top-right of the screen.
  3. Tap Chat Settings.
  4. Tap Import Chat History
  5. Done

Repeat the process for every other personal chat you want to restore.
